HOLY HILL

Top of Holy Hill - Home of the Shakers

Trapped like rats, the shakers were fenced in to pray twice a day;
boys on one side girls on the other.

Lollipop Cemetary

This cemetery was started in 1792 and around 300 Shakers are buried there.  In the beginning stone grave markers were used, some of which are still in place today.  In 1879, the town removed most of the stone markers and placed on the cast iron markers seen in the pics.  If you visit this site, note the ages of the deceased.  The Shakers were known for being long-lived.
